Installing, configuring, and packaging SVR5 drivers

System file

The System(DSP/4dsp) file provides information needed to configure devices that are controlled by this device. A sample System file for an ISA device is:

   $version 2
   sample Y 0 0 0 0 70 71 0 0 -1
The first line must be $version 2 for all DDI 8 drivers. The second line provides the actual configuration information that is required. The first field specifies the driver's name and must match that used for the Master file and the name of the directory that contains the DSP files. The second field indicates whether or not this module is being configured into the kernel.

The remaining fields define device-specific parameters such as the number of subdevices, the IPL for the driver, and the I/O addresses used. For ``smartbus'' cards such as PCI, these fields are populated with 0's (or -1 for ``dmachan'' field) so that the autoconfiguration and autodetection facilities will determine these values. ISA devices have limited autodetection facilities so more of these fields must be filled in. These fields are also populated with 0's for software drivers.
