The SCO X Server uses a dynamic loading mechanism to access different drivers. A new display driver is installed into the apropriate directory, in a manner similar to how a device driver exists in the kernel link kit. Each driver resides in a directory named after itself. The object modules have a specified name and pathname, shown in the following table:
|Platform||Object name||Example: full pathname of nte8 driver|
|SCO OpenServer 5||XDriver.o||/usr/lib/X11/dyddx/nte8/XDriver.o|
At startup, the server does the following:
As the X Server detects each graphics adapter
that is configured by the user,
it automatically pulls in the display driver needed
for that piece of hardware.
