Installing and managing software over the network

Installing from remote source machines

To install products, components, packages, or patches from a software server:

  1. Start the Software Manager. From the Software menu, select Install New.

  2. Enter the host name and the ``swadmin'' password for the remote machine.

  3. Select the software items that you want from the list of available software, and click on Install.

NOTE: The list of available software may contain products, components, packages, and patches. If you install a component and its patch at the same time, the Software Manager may try to install the patch before the component, causing the patch installation to fail.

  4. To license the product during installation, enter the license number and code from the Certificate of License and Authenticity when prompted. If you defer licensing at this time, see ``Licensing products'' for instructions on licensing the product.
