Configuring the Network Information Service (NIS)

Creating netgroups

To create a netgroup, follow these steps:

  1. On the master server, edit the file /etc/netgroup and add the netgroup (see ``About netgroups'' for the format of this entry).

  2. Change to the /etc/yp directory and execute the command:

    ypmake netgroup

This will create the new netgroup and push the changes out to the other NIS servers in the domain.
