Specifying a ping failure action

You can generate an action for the Node Check Manager to take when ping fails to contact a given node. The action provided, disabled by default, is to mail root the node name, time, and date of the failure.

To enable this default action, select Perform Action at the bottom of the Node Check Manager.

To change the default action:

  1. Deselect Perform Action.

  2. Select Action from the Edit menu.

  3. Enter an action to take when a node is down. This can be any valid system command.

  4. Click on OK when done.

  5. Select Perform Action.
