nail -- To cause a window to remain in the same place on the screen when you change the area of the workspace that you are viewing. A nailed window appears to travel around with you as you move from place to place within your workspace. You nail or unnail a window by selecting Toggle Nail from a Window menu.

pointer focus -- The behavior of the window manager when you can make a window active by moving the pointer onto it.

Root menu -- A menu on the Root window that you can use to select certain options in SCO Panner.

Root window -- The window that covers the entire workspace. It acts as a background for your windows, icons, and other objects.

snap to grid -- To force the area of the workspace being viewed to correspond to the nearest work area marked out by the grid.

symbolic window -- A rectangular representation of a window shown on the map to indicate the position of the window in your workspace.

view area -- The portion of your workspace visible on the screen corresponding to the position of the viewfinder on the map.

viewfinder -- The rectangle that you can move across the map in the panner to change the area of your workspace that you see on the screen.

work area -- A screen-sized area of your workspace in which you can arrange windows. The grid on the map in the panner divides your workspace into a number of work areas that you can use for this purpose.

workspace -- The space associated with your screen where you can place windows. In SCO Panner, this space may be larger than can be shown on the screen at any one time.
