Creating files with Edit

Copying, moving, and deleting text

To cut and paste, move, copy, or delete a section of text, you must first select it. Point to the beginning of the text section, then hold down mouse button 1 and drag the cursor to the end of the text. Release the mouse button. The text is highlighted, which means that it is selected.

Then, to:


copy text
Select Copy from the Edit menu. Move the pointer to the new location, then select Paste from the Edit menu. Or, after you have selected the desired text, move the pointer to the new location and click mouse button 2.

delete text
Select Delete from the Edit menu.

move text
Select Cut from the Edit menu. Move the cursor to the new location, then select Paste from the Edit menu.

To reverse any of these changes or to delete text that you just typed in, select Undo from the Edit menu before making any other modifications to your file.
