Error messages

Some error messages you might encounter are described here.


Preferences file errors:

The pref file path is bad
Can't read your prefs
You don't have permission to read the pref file
The pref file couldn't be opened
Can't Create Preference File

These errors all indicate that the preferences file is either missing or has a permissions problem so you cannot read it. There may also be a permissions problem with the directory that contains the preferences file, or a directory in its path. See chmod(C) for information about permissions. The preferences file is usually kept in /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/ScoMail You may have a personalized copy in $HOME/ScoMail.


Other permissions problems:

Can't open file for reading
Can't open folder for reading
Can't open file for writing

These errors indicate that there is a permissions problem with the file or folder you are attempting to open. See chmod(C) for information about permissions.
