Using Mail

Recipient cannot read an attachment

If you send an attachment to someone on a different machine and that person cannot read the attachment, the other system may not include viewing program that is compatible with the software with which you created the attachment. Have the recipient check with their system administrator.

Alternatively, the recipient may be using a mail program that cannot display all types of attachments. One type of attachment format, called uuencode format, is used by a number of mailers such as Portfolio mail or SCO Shell Mail.

You can try to resend your attachment using the uuencode format. Select Format from the Attachments menu, and select Uuencode Format. Then create another message for this recipient and include the attachment.

To return to sending multiple attachment types, select Format from the Attachments menu, then select MIME Format.
