Managing system performance

System performance analysis tools

Several tools are available that collect data about system usage and organize it in reports so you can quickly analyze patterns of usage on your system. With this information you can evaluate your computer's performance and develop strategies for load balancing and system tuning--two activities that can improve performance.

The following subtopics describe the performance analysis commands. The output is based on processor type, disk size, and other variables, and, therefore, the output you receive may differ. However, the output will help you identify traffic problems and determine whether they are user- or application-related.
