Description
/krb5/v5srvtab is a binary file that contains
the encrypted passwords (keys) for server principals.
The contents of this file can be viewed and edited
using the
ktlist(ADMN),
ktadd(ADMN),
and
ktdelete(ADMN)
commands.
The
kpasswd(TC)
program modifies this file automatically
if the -host option is specified.
The v5srvtab file allows the secure service daemons
ftpd(ADMN),
rlogind(ADMN),
rshd(ADMN),
and
telnetd(ADMN)
to access their current password to decrypt
Service Tickets sent by authenticated clients
to verify the clients' identity.
For security reasons, this file should have
owner and group root, and should only
be readable and writable by root
(permissions 600).
